Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ puts on a long show of lilac-blue flower trusses, from early summer, on through summer and autumn.
The flowers trusses of this Buddleja are particularly elegant, as they are long and slender with pointed tips.
While the blooms are also very rich in nectar and perfume.
So they are a pleasure for bringing scent into the garden and attracting a constant parade of pollinators, including native honey-eating birds, bees and butterflies.
Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ forms a gracefully arching, low and wide, evergreen shrub.
So it is one of the smaller growing of the popular Buddleja family, and you can enjoy all the Buddleja benefits without taking up a large space.
The narrow, grey-green felty leaves are also elegant year round.

Growth: Arching, small, evergreen shrub.
Bloom season: Long, slender arching flower trusses, from early summer on and through autumn.
Position: Prefers full sun but is also well able to adapt to partial shade. However, it may grow a little longer and looser in shape in more shaded positions.

Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ is also an excellent choice for coastal and seaside gardens, or windy sites.
Soil: Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ is very easily grown in a wide variety of soils.
From sandy to clay based soils and including good garden loam or limestone-based soils. Because it is also tolerant of a wide range of soil pH, from acid to alkaline.
Prefers good drainage and so is not suitable for very waterlogged positions. Though it can survive excess moisture for short periods and is worth trying in heavier clay soils.
Frost: Very frost hardy, and able to withstand temperatures down to approx. -20C. depending on conditions.
Water: Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ will thrive on average garden watering. Because it is not a particularly thirsty plant and can tolerate some periods of dry, as well as periods with minimal additional watering.
So Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ is a good choice for water-saving gardeners.
Pots: Can be grown permanently in a large pot, and is easily trimmed or pruned to a desired shape.
Cut Flowers: The blooms of Buddleja davidii ‘Nanhoensis’ can be used as cut flowers and brought indoors to enjoy the soft colour and sweeet perfume. They have a reasonable vase life.
