Campanula punctata rubriflora ‘Cherry Bells’ is a stunner in bloom.
Flaunting large, impressive waxy bells of rich cherry, dangling in tiers from 45cm tall, strong stems.
Stems of ‘Cherry Bells’ make superb cut flowers and last well in a vase.
Campanula punctata rubriflora ‘Cherry Bells’ is amongst the longest blooming of all the Bellflowers, giving a continuous supply of flower stems from early summer through into autumn.
It is also robustly frost-hardy; resistant to rabbits; and thrives in a wide range of soils, including clay.
Plus, it is able to adapt to a wide range of soil pH from acid to alkaline.
Campanula punctata rubriflora ‘Cherry Bells’ is repeat blooming; requiring only low maintenance; and average water requirements.
However the more stems you cut for vases, or deadheading – the more prolific and faster the re-bloom will be.
Plant in full sun to partial shade where it will spread to perennial clump approx. 60cm. wide.
Campanula punctata rubriflora ‘Cherry Bells’ can also be mass planted to create a ground covering mat of foliage.
Then it will erupt into a forest of flowering bell spires over the warm months.
The whole family of Campanulas are commonly called “Bellflowers”.
Because of their beautiful stems of showy flowers - looking like spires of bells.
They give wonderful bunches of flowers for cutting as well as a great garden show.
And bloom in repeats from Melbourne Cup Day (early November) onwards, with ‘Cherry Bells’ being amongst the longest and most prolific blooming of them all.
