Salvia chamaedryoides

Salvia chamaedryoides is an essential colour element in any garden, large or small.
This beautiful small shrub forms a mound of tiny silver leaves, adorned all summer and autumn with intensely-true-blue, blooms.
It makes a sensational colour pop and an elegant shape.

Nectar seeking native birds and bees just love it, and so do gardeners.
Because Salvia chamaedryoides is water-wise, thrives in heat, relishes sun and wind exposure, and tolerates moderate frosts (though it will also be perfectly happy in a little dappled shade and the protection of an overhead tree or shrub in harder frost areas).
This tough little beauty is drought resistant, largely untroubled by any pests and diseases, and even rabbits and deer usually don’t care to nibble it.

Salvia chamaedryoides rarely if ever needs pruning, as it naturally grows as a rounded mound. However, you can give it a trim over with the hedge shears in spring if you wish to make it a formal shape.
