MEIGAN'S SAGE
Salvia ‘Meigan’s Magic’ TM
Salvia ‘Meigan’s Magic’ is a treasure trove of long blooming. As it is usually if bloom with long, elegant flower spires from mid-summer all the way through autumn and well into winter. Slender white trumpets are clasped in deep violet-black velvety calyces for months.
Much to the delight of native honey-eating birds, bees, pollinating insects, and gardeners alike.
Salvia ‘Meigan’s Magic’ is a tall grower, ideal as an attractive background or centre piece for a flower bed.
It forms a graceful, rounded fountain shape with attractive texture from large felty grey-green leaves.
So it is the perfect setting for the striking, long navy blue and white flower spires.
Salvia ‘Meigan’s Magic’ is a great choice for gardens with hot, dry summers and cold winters. It is water-wise and well adapted to withstand periods of heat or dry, especially when mulched during summer.
A tenacious grower, even in challenging conditions, and can also tolerate some summer humidity providing it is well aired.
‘Meigan’s Magic’ can be planted in full sun, though it is also an excellent choice for a partly shaded position providing it is airy.
It is particularly successful and useful for planting under tall gum trees where the tree branches are well above, so the Salvia is receiving good light. ‘Meigan’s Magic’ then copes well with life under a gum tree.
‘Meigan’s Magic’ is moderately frost hardy, and even more robust in frosty regions if it is planted under the shelter of a taller tree.
