With a dense clump of silvery-blue-green foliage approx. 25cm. wide and topped by a mass of button flowers on 15cm. high stems.
Thus Dianthus ‘Pike’s Pink’ is ideal for mass planting to make neat edges, and in small gardens.
Or cute in pots; rockeries; underplanting roses; and bordering veggie beds.
Blooms from Dianthus ‘Pike’s Pink’ make great cut flowers for small vases and posies, where they last well, and give pretty colour and sweet fragrance.
While the flowers and petals can also be dried and used for sachets, pot-pourri, or eco-friendly confetti.
As they hold their colour and fragrance well.

Dianthus petals are entirely edible.
But to get the sweetest and best flavour, make sure you snip the petals from the flower base, thus removing the more bitter part where the petals join the calyx.

Being tough and easy to grow.
They give their best with sun, minimal water, and thrive in well drained, sandy, gravel, or rocky soils.
However they do appreciate an alkaline soil, so an annual feed with Dolomite lime is beneficial in all but very limestone areas.
The plants are also hardy in frost, heat and are very low maintenance.
