Capsicum chinense 'Devil's Tongue'
Capsicum chinense ‘Devil’s Tongue’ is a rare, wonderfully flavoured, and very hot Chilli.
Devil’s Tongue produces glossy yellow fruit, with a sweet, nutty, fruity flavour and a devilishly intense chilli burn.
Rated around the 7th hottest chilli fruit in the world, 10 times hotter than Tabasco, and at 325,000 Scoville scale Heat Units (SHU).
9/10 for flavour and heat.
Fruit can sometimes also have beautiful red, chocolate or orange colours too.
So it is very decorative as a pot plant on a balcony or veranda, or in the veggie patch.
Use fresh or in sauces, salsas, curries and cooking with herbs.
Chilli plants like lots of light, plenty of fertilizer, and regular water. They are excellent basking in warm pots and places.
‘Devil’s Tongue’ plants can produce fruit for up to 5 months, and if protected over the winter they can be cut back to shoot again next spring and provide a bumper crop again next summer.
