Salvia is the largest genus of plants in the mint family (Lamiaceae) and we have a huge range of Salvias available via mail order. Salvias are sometimes referred to as Sage and they are extremely easy to grow, long flowering and come in a great range of colours and sizes to suit any garden. Once established salvia are loved for their hardiness and drought tolerance, but they are also frost tolerant.
Plant colourful Salvias en masse in perennial borders, cottage gardens or as stand-alone feature plants in decorative pots. Salvia can also be grown as an informal hedge or screening plant and colourful Salvia flowers attract bees and nectar feeding birds into your garden. Some salvia flowers are edible and their foliage is fragrant, eg. Salvia elegans (Pineapple Sage). The group includes the common cooking herb Sage (Salvia officinalis).
Salvias thrive in most well-drained soils, however if you’ve got boggy conditions then Salvia uliginosa (Bog Sage) is the perfect choice. Most Salvia prefer to grow in full sun to part shade and they are even rabbit resistant thanks to an unappealing oil they produce in their leaves.
We grow over 250 Salvia varieties and usually have at least 60 to choose from as mail order plants with our money-back guarantee. Order Salvias online now and fill your garden with these hardy and beautiful plants.
